through the activities of the Socio-Eco-Business environment-friendly agriculture,
the result of cooperation between YIS and PT. Tirta Investama Klaten )
In order to solve various social problems, mainly in the socio-economic field, the Government of Karanglo Village together with YIS, trying to develop a model of community empowerment in the agricultural sector, namely with the concept of Independent Agricultural Village in the Karanglo Village, Polanharjo District, Klaten Regency. Government of Karanglo Village together with YIS, will facilitate farmers to increase their skills in order to develop agricultural enterprises that have high economic value. These measures have been carried out, with the assistance efforts that are integrated, both conducted by the village government, YIS, and local extension workers.
Until now, the Joint work program of farmer groups (farmer group union) 'Tani Mulyo' has reached the stages towards environmentally friendly agriculture, with the implementation of pilot land (up) semi-organic, although currently only 2 poles (0.34 Ha). Development efforts has been demonstrated by some members of the farmer group union, main board, with commitment and determination that the pilot project with the existing environment-friendly agriculture must always increase. Even planned for September 2009 Month Environmentally Friendly Agricultural land must have reached the 1 Ha, so also from time to time Environmentally Friendly Agricultural Land will always increase.
The concept based Independent Agricultural Village to be applied in Karanglo Village, inseparable from the desire of farmers to cut dependence on fertilizer factory, namely with emphasis on the use of organic fertilizers that will be created / produced by the Village Community Karanglo own. By producing compost that is used for farming, it will be many benefits gained, other than material gains from the sale of organic fertilizer products, there are advantages to be gained follow-up, of providing jobs for poor families that impact on lowering the number of unemployed people in the Karanglo village. Of the total population of 2434 people, 1350 people in them are productive age, and 288 of them are unemployed.
Processed from village monograph data can be seen that the potential development of organic fertilizer in the Karanglo Village big enough. This can be seen from the number of organic materials available in the village is big enough. Organic matter from cattle dung in 1 day can produce 1 ton of organic fertilizer, while for organic waste (household waste, market waste, and straw) in 1 day is able to produce 8 tons of organic fertilizer. With the existence of organic fertilizer production, part of the profits gained will be used to help poor families, which generally also a farmworker families.
It is recognized that in order to carry out the process of village development in the Independent Village on Agricultural Based in Karanglo is not easy. Many of the problems that must be faced to implement and apply the program in a village society Karanglo. In response to such conditions must have inputs associated with the development program should always be facilitated. For example deepening of the concept of environmentally friendly agriculture, equating to environmentally friendly agricultural vision on practical activities in the framework of human resource development such as training farmers, assistance to the activities of action and development.
